Q | Do I have to be diagnosed with PTSD in order to attend?
A | Some of our participants have been diagnosed with PTSD or other mental health issue but that is not a requirement. However, the majority of our participants are struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, sleep problems, addictions, relationship problems, social isolation, and chronic fatigue.
Q | What benefit will I get by attending the Restoring Resilience Program?
Our Restoring Resilience Program provides a safe environment for the releasing and healing of your inner self through education and peer support, and for helping you understand deeply about your inner self, which will allow you to develop the skills needed to overcome a wide range of emotional and mental challenges including those mentioned above.
Throughout the program we will:
Provide you with educational resources that will help you establish an understanding of where your thoughts, feelings, emotions are coming from, which will in turn, allow you release past traumas, develop the skills you need to handle anxiety, panic attacks and other times of emotional distress and overcome periods of depression and other mental and emotional challenges.
Teach you the tools of, and give you the opportunity to practice: traditional yoga, meditation, and proven breathing techniques, to help improve your state of mental health.
Give you the opportunity to receive energy and Reiki healing from our dedicated practitioners.
Provide the opportunity to experience outdoor activity that will bring new perspective to make right choices and informed decisions about your personal and professional life.
Q | What is the fee for participating in the First Responders United 5-day Residential PTSD Retreat?
A | The fee for the Restoring Resilience Program is $500. This fee includes educational resource material, snacks, water, and individual and group evidence-based therapy.
Q | Does The Happyness Center Foundation accept private health insurance or participants who are receiving health care benefits through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)?
A | No. The Happyness Center does not take any private health Insurance. The participant has to make their own arrangement for any such benefits. Each participant is required to pay The Happyness Center Foundation (either through credit card, e-transfer, or cheque) prior to the start of the program.

Q | Will my employer know that I have attended the Restoring Resilience Program?
A | Canadian law respects the privilege of confidentiality between the mental health professionals and participant. Therefore, information about your attendance at our program will only be released at your written discretion and permission or unless your personal safety becomes a concern.
Participants may attend without their organization’s knowledge by using vacation or other types of leave-credits. It is our first priority that feel safe and comfortable, and therefore believe that it is your decision whether you want to disclose about your process to anyone. Our practitioners will not mention or discuss your involvement in the program even if they see you in public and will leave any public discussion around the program up to you, in order to protect your confidentiality.
Q | How do I register for this program?
A | To ensure that our program is a good fit for you and in order that you receive the best support and guidance to fit your circumstances, we ask that you fill out this application for participation. Once received, one of our practitioners will be in contact to schedule a brief confidential in-take interview via phone or through email.

Q | What is the schedule like for the 4-days?
A | Our Program occurs over two weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and begins at 10:00 am and concludes at 5:00 pm. We begin each day with Invocation and intention, followed by a group check-in, educational presentations, and scheduled therapeutic sessions. Lunch is for an hour around 12:30 pm and there will be a few short breaks in between. Beverages and snacks will be available throughout the day.
